Wonderful World of Water Day Camp
Upper Saint Clair -
Regional Environmental Education Center –
July 19 - 23
9AM – 3 PM
This class is FULL
This summer PRC will partner with the PA American Water Company (PAWC) and the Regional Environmental Education Center (REEC) to offer the fifth annual Wonderful World of Water Day Camp to children in the PAWC service area. This week-long camp, sponsored by PAWC (and therefore free-of-charge), will provide five fun-filled days of outdoor fun and education around water issues and stewardship. |
Campers, ages 7-11, explore the watershed, water basics, and current water quality issues through interactive instruction, hands-on activities, crafts, hikes and games. Campers will experience various types of water study and fun activities with camp staff who will guide them in experimenting with water filtration and purification techniques and stream studies. Campers also learn how local animals are affected by pollution in our watershed, and enjoy nature hikes/litter pick-ups at our beautiful camp site at the Boyce-Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair . We’ll get moving with eco-games such as water and recycling relays. Even meals and snacks are used to convey educational messages. Campers learn about the importance of waste reduction by packing zero waste lunches, and composting and recycling everything used at camp.
As a result of PAWC’s generous commitment to this endeavor all campers are able to enjoy the Wonderful World of Water Day Camp free-of-charge! Registration is limited – so register soon.
