Since 1984 Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) has sponsored an annual Lens on Litter Photo contest to call attention to the litter problem in communities across Pennsylvania. More than 4000 photos have been submitted over the years and comprise a "Rogue's Galley" of the Litterbug at work. The photos are loaned to schools and community groups interested in working to help fight litter. The winning photos are displayed throughout Pennsylvania, including PRC's offices in Ridley Creek State Park and the ECO-center in Pittsburgh, and the offices of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in Harrisburg.
Eleven prizes are awarded each year. First Prize is a $1,000 cash. There are two Second Prizes of $500 and three Third Prizes of $250. Four photographers whose photos place Honorable Mention each receive $200. Visitors who see the photos on display at PRC or at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in Harrisburg may also vote for a "People's Choice" winner who receives a Fuji camera.
